Due to their versatility Ferrites offer a wide scope of applications, Ferrite (also called Ceramic) magnets are the most used and sold magnets across the globe. Our ferrite block magnets all have straight lined edges and fine right angle corners. Medium in their strength, Ferrites can be used in up to 250°C, which allows for optimum use in many high temperature applications as well as in electrical machines. Furthermore, these magnets are used both indoors and outdoors as they do not corrode, this makes them a good choice for “wet†applications – uses in water, salt water and marine environments.  Ferrite / Ceramic magnets are dark grey – or lead colour as in a pencil, hard and brittle. They are uncoated but a fine powder frequently found on them. Ceramic magnets, which are man-made magnets, are composed primarily of iron oxide and strontium carbonate. Because our block magnets are hard ferrite magnets, they have high coercivity (high resistance to being demagnetised). Hard ceramic magnets are often used in applications where a permanent high-strength magnetic field is required, such as loudspeakers. As well as being a top choice for long term performance, when well maintained – Ferrite Magnets will easily outlast their application. While Ferrites are also called Ceramic magnets – they both refer to the exact same magnet, the term ceramic came into effect because these magnets are electrically insulating (electrical current does not pass through them because of their exceptionally high electrical resistance) APPLICATIONSThe smaller block magnets are popular in hobbies and crafts, not to mention assembly applications which helps escalate the magnets effect, for example pot or round base magnets. The bigger block magnets are favoured in many ferrous separation applications which require metal contamination to be removed – such as a conveyor belt in recycling plants As has been noted, Ferrite magnets are hard and brittle. They can shatter and break if mishandled or dropped. While cracks, lines and other visual blemishes are commonly found on Ferrites, these imperfections do not represent defects. Chips of up to 5% of the magnets surface is acceptable and Cracks are admissible provided not more than 50% of the magnets surface is affected.
